Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals Negatively Affect Bone Density

Key findings from a study published in Environmental Research, indicates that exposure to higher concentrations of certain endocrine-disrupting chemicals, specifically per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), is associated with reductions in bone mineral density (BMD) in children and young adults.

What Is Ozempic and Why Is It So Popular?

The article interviews my colleague Dr. Disha Narang who currently practices in Chicago, about the growing popularity of Ozempic, a drug initially approved to treat diabetes, for its purported weight loss effects. Celebrities and influencers, including those on TikTok, have publicly mentioned using Ozempic or its higher-dose counterpart, Wegovy, to achieve rapid weight loss. The FDA approved Wegovy specifically for obesity treatment in 2021. Recently, another drug called Zepbound, with a compound similar to the diabetes medication Mounjaro, gained FDA approval for weight management.
